This blog, will document the creative process in which I follow throughout the production of the play Kafka's Dick as part of my 2nd Year Drama and Theatre module 'Performance project' directed by Alice Robinson. Kafka's Dick is a play written by Alan Bennett, the play itself is a comical farce, that reveals a married couple Sydney and Linda. Sydney deems himself as an expert on Kafka and his life's work. Sydney and Linda are visited by Max Brod (Kafka's closest friend) after he urinates all over the couples turtle, who then later transforms in Kafka (Both men are supposed to be long dead). As the play unfolds, we find that Kafka very much wanted to remain anonymous after his death, which Brod had clearly ignored by having all of his works published. Kafka reveals his turbulent relationship with his father upon his father resurrection in Act 2.
I am very much looking forward to beginning this project, I feel it will be both rewarding and challenging but I am more than up for it. I think it will be nice to work with some individuals that I have not had the chance to work with before.
